PHP Http Streaming Reloaded
Since the release of xmoov-php, we have been surprised how many web developers use the script. It has become a standard for http pseudo streaming with PHP. For this reason, we have decided to improve the script and create an independent platform to better support it.
We did a thorough analysis of the current needs of internet content publishers in order to create a system that is universal and powerful enough to satisfy a larger community. We believe we have succeeded with the xmoovStream Server.
New Features
The xmoovStream Server now offers multi MIME support making it ideal for serving downloads, images or any other MIME file type your server can understand.
Thanks to http-range support, the xmoovStream Server now allows you to random access MP4 audio and video files on the iPhone and Quicktime Player X.
Flash Players Included
The xmoovStream Audio and Video players are also included in this new release making it a nice and rounded package to get you xmoovStreaming quickly without the need for Adobe Flash Software or actionscript coding skills. These players are lightweight, clean and cleverly designed using the same actionscript 3 code libraries xmoov.com uses to create high-end custom solutions for major internet content publishers.
Easy Installation
The xmoovStream package is well documented and has been prepared for easy and fast installation whether you are a PHP expert or novice. The download package is plug-and-play. All you have to do is unzip and upload the files to your server as is and surf to http://yoursite.com/xsexamples/ and you will/should :) see the installation with working examples. After that, you should read the documentation in order to move the folders to the right places and configure the xmoovStream Server to meet your needs.
Continuing Development
We have a few surprises in store for xmoovStream. The next update is just around the corner. At this time, it does not support http pseudo streaming for MP4 files using a Flash video player, but we are still working on this feature. Feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions for any aspect of the xmoovStream release.

This web site serves as a support platform for xmoovStream users. We offer free and paid support services to help you with installation, customization and technical issues. We will be creating screen casts, tutorials and publishing useful information in our blog regularly. We encourage you to register an account in order to post comments, submit suggestions and take advantage of our paid support. Your contact information will not be shared with third parties.
Licensing
The xmoovStream package is free for non-commercial use. We offer commercial license models for those using xmoovStream on a commercial web site. We want to keep this alive for as long as such a solution is needed. Commercial licenses and advertising allow us to better support the script and it’s continuing development.
Contribution
We encourage PHP developers to take part in the continuing development of the xmoovStream Server. We would also like to see xmoovStream plugins for diverse content management systems. If you are able to produce such a plugin, or have a useful script of some kind, please download the package in order to learn how the xmoovStream Server works, and how to create server configuration files.
